Note - Infrared sensors cannot be used to detect Hydrogen gas.
These single-gas sensors contain all the necessary optics, electronics and firmware to provide a linearized, temperature compensated output. The sensors provide equipment designers with a fast track route to introduce the latest infrared technology for detection of gas without the requirement for any specialist knowledge.
They are contained in an Ex d stainless steel housing and are hazardous area certified to IECEx, ATEX and UL standards. The IECEx and ATEX certification also includes Group I (Mining) certification (I M1, Ex db+ia I Ma). Certification details.
Versions are also available that are fitted with software that has been SIRA certified to European Standard EN 50271:2010. The sensors can be considered for use in the design of safety functions up to and including Safety Integrity Level SIL 1 - see EN 61508.
The sensors can be used to measure either Hydrocarbon gases or Carbon Dioxide, depending upon the sensor type, within a wide range of commercial and industrial applications.
The sensors provide up to 3 measurement ranges e.g. for Hydrocarbon types 0-5% & 0-100% Volume Methane (CH4) with an autoranging option plus the option to select between either the Methane range or a 0-2% Propane range both of which are fully temperature compensated and characterised for their respective gases. The Platinum Series also includes the High Resolution Methane Sensor which provides measurement of Methane over the full range of 0 to 100% volume with a resolution of 0.01 % for 0-10% methane and 0.1% for 10-100% volume.
A separately available Configuration Unit enables users to customise certain parameters within the sensor in order to suit their particular requirements.
