Premier Infrared Gas Sensor Range
A New Generation of Miniature, Intelligent, Non-Dispersive InfraRed (NDIR) Gas Sensors
Dynament was formed 8 years ago by bringing together individuals with a wealth of knowledge and long-term experience in the design, production and application of infrared gas sensors. During this time it has established itself as the major supplier of miniature NDIR sensors to O.E.M.'s worldwide. It has developed a range of sensors for two main areas; Hydrocarbons - with a proven record for Methane detection which is the most problematic of the hydrocarbon gases to detect within in the infrared spectrum; and Carbon Dioxide.
The growth in the market for Hydrocarbon IR detectors has been driven by three main factors:-
- Pellistors, the traditional catalytic type sensor used to detect flammable gases, are prone to 'poisoning'.
- Pellistors are inherently none fail-safe, and hence there is a requirement for instrument users to carry out regular "bump testing" in order to ensure that the instrument will detect gas.
- The miniaturisation of the latest NDIR sensors.
The restraints to the growth in the market for NDIR gas sensors has so far been due to:-
- The specialised knowledge required by instrument design engineers for the successful implementation of IR gas sensors.
- Gas detector re-design and certification costs.
- The price of the NDIR sensors.
To address these issues, and to complement its existing range of products, Dynament has developed the PREMIER range of revolutionary new miniature NDIR sensors that contain all the optics, electronics and firmware for the sensor to give out a linearized, temperature-compensated output.
This totally new approach means that, with the correct certification, Original Equipment Manufacturers:-
- Are able to directly fit these sensors into compatible portable and fixed gas detectors to convert them from pellistor to infrared.
- Can benefit from large savings on design costs because any instrument suitable to accept pellistors can utilise the new range of IR sensors.
- Can purchase the sensors at competitive prices.
This new type of sensor is available in versions for the detection of the following gases:-
- Hydrocarbons, including Methane.
- Carbon Dioxide.
