Methane Gas Sensors

Our Methane (CH4) Gas Sensor series comprises various innovative miniature infrared sensors for the measurement of methane gas from 0 to 100% volume.

The series now includes the revolutionary High Resolution Premier Methane Sensor and Dual-Gas Premier High Resolution Methane / Carbon Dioxide Sensor. The Dual-Gas Premier sensor provides the capability to simultaneously monitor Methane and Carbon Dioxide in a single sensor package whilst only consuming the power of a single infrared sensor. It also has the additional benefit of a pre-characterised 0-2% Propane measurement range included as standard.

Dynament Methane sensors are available with or without hazardous area certification and comprise the following series:-

  1. Premier Series - which provide linearized, temperature compensated analogue and digital outputs.
  2. Dual-Gas Premier Series - which provide a linearized, temperature compensated digital output.
  3. High Resolution Premier Series - which provide linearized, temperature compensated analogue and digital outputs.
  4. Standard Series - which provide a basic 'raw' signal output.

Premier Series

These sensors contain all the necessary optics, electronics and firmware to provide a linearized, temperature compensated output. The sensors provide equipment designers with a fast track route to introduce the latest infrared technology for detection of gases without the requirement for any specialist knowledge.

Dual-Gas Premier Series

The Dual-Gas Premier Series provide the capability to simultaneously monitor Methane (Hydrocarbon) and Carbon Dioxide using a single infrared sensor. These sensors consume the power of a single infrared sensor and therefore provide prolonged battery life when used within portable gas detectors. The sensors also contain a pre-characterised 0-2% volume Propane measurement range.

The High Resolution Premier Series provide measurement of Methane over the full range of 0 to 100% volume whilst providing a resolution of 0.01 % for 0-10% methane and 0.1% for 10-100% volume.

It can be used to replace either:-

  1. An infrared 0-5% volume methane sensor and a 0-100% volume methane sensor.
  2. A set of catalytic beads for 0-5% volume methane and a set of catalytic beads for 100% volume methane.

Standard Series

Certified Types Non-Certified Types

Standard infrared gas sensors provide a 'raw' signal output which needs to be be fed into external processing electronics and software. This may either be provided by the equipment manufacturer or by use of a purpose-designed OEM board available from Dynament Ltd.

Certified Infrared Sensor Non-Certified Infrared Sensor

Certified types are hazardous area certified components that are intended for use directly within hazardous area certified portable or fixed gas detection equipment provided that their use is permitted by the equipment manufacturer's certification documents. Versions are available certified for use in Mining (M1) applications.

Non-certified types are intended for use either in non-certified gas detection equipment or in hazardous area certified equipment where the equipment manufacturer provides the necessary protection by means of a separately certified explosion protected housing.
