Hydrocarbon Gas Sensors

Our Hydrocarbon Sensor series comprises various innovative miniature infrared sensors for the measurement of a range of hydrocarbon gases from 0 to 100% volume. Because the sensor response to hydrocarbon gas types varies between each particular gas type they are normally supplied with their output linearized and temperature compensated to a target gas specified by the customer - please refer to the 'Gas Sensor Types' section in the navigation bar above.

Dynament Hydrocarbon sensors are available with or without hazardous area certification and comprise the following series:-

  1. Platinum Series - these are our latest generation designs featuring a reduced gas response time (< 20secs), multiple measurement ranges, low power versions and EN50271 / SIL1 certified versions.
  2. Premier Series - which provide linearized, temperature compensated analogue and digital outputs.
  3. Standard Series - which provide a basic 'raw' signal output.

'Ex' Certified types are hazardous area certified components that are intended for use directly within hazardous area certified portable or fixed gas detection equipment provided that their use is permitted by the equipment manufacturer's certification documents. Versions are available certified for use in Mining (M1) applications.

'Non-Ex' types are intended for use either in non-certified gas detection equipment or in hazardous area certified equipment where the equipment manufacturer provides the necessary protection by means of a separately certified explosion protected housing.

Platinum Series

Temperature Compensated
- 20 to +50 deg. C

These sensors contain all the necessary optics, electronics and firmware to provide a linearized, temperature compensated output. The sensors provide equipment designers with a fast track route to introduce the latest infrared technology for detection of gases without the requirement for any specialist knowledge.

The Platinum Series provide a reduced gas response time (< 20 secs) compared with the earlier 'Premier' Series of sensors.

  1. Low Power (15mA) Versions.
  2. EN 50271 / SIL1 SIRA Certified Versions.

Platinum Series 'Non-Ex' Hydrocarbon Sensor

Versions available include:

  1. Low Power (15mA) Versions.
  2. Extended Temperature (XT) versions (-40 to +50 deg.C).
  3. Extended Temperature (XTR) versions (-40 to +75 deg.C).
  4. EN 50271 / SIL1 SIRA Certified Versions.

Standard Series

'Ex' Certified Types 'Non-Ex' Types

Standard infrared gas sensors provide a 'raw' signal output which needs to be be fed into external processing electronics and software. This may either be provided by the equipment manufacturer or by use of a purpose-designed OEM board available from Dynament Ltd.
